Research and Extension
NPUST is a science and technology institution with a long history of more than 80 years. With the aim of fulfilling the mission of professional education, the Office of Research and Development (ORD) of the university is not only promoting basic research on campus, but also encouraging our faculty to be involved in industry-academia collaboration. In order to carry out a variety of services for industry-academia collaboration, we have set up a number of specialized research centers at the university level or college level on campus, and established various technological service centers in academic departments or graduate institutes.
As part of our university R&D policy, the ORD is actively involved in the implementation of “product oriented research (POR)”. The goal is to devote our faculty’s research to meet the needs of industry and the market. The ORD acts as an intermediate between university faculty and industry through the platforms of “patent portfolio,” “patent protection,” “industry-academia collaboration,” and “innovation and incubation,” The ORD delivers quintessential academic research to industry under the conditions of safety, dignity, legitimacy, convenience, and reciprocity to manifest the benefits of intellectual property and assist the industry in their business continuity. In the next 10 years, the ORD is expecting to advance the research achievements of our university to a standing which can rival those of other research universities in the nation. The ultimate goal is to move NPUST into the top 100 Asian universities in the near future.
